How do You Sway?

The idea of having balance in life is a difficult concept to actually achieve. It is never possible to achieve full balance between all life demands. With more people working from home this becomes even more challenging. When does the work day end and your personal life begin? Maybe there doesn’t need to be a hard stop and start. Maybe, all that is important is to be fully present in the moment. That is what Sway Life is all about. Swaying from one part of your life to the next to be in that moment.

Technology has opened up our world and the way we can connect to people. No longer do you need to sit in a traditional office to be efficient at your job. You do not need to live in the same city, state or even country as the company you do business with. We can work from any where at any time. The idea of going to work from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and taking a 30 minute break in the middle of day is as antiquated as a VHS player. With all this freedom, we need to learn how to maximize our time so we feel as free in all aspects of our life. We need to be able to SWAY from one task to the next freely.

What could that look like? A SWAY Life to me looks like this:

6:30 a.m. Wake Up and start my day with meditation

7:00 a.m. Get ready for my day (Including making my bed so if nothing else, I can say I accomplished one thing in my day)

7:30 a.m. Enjoy coffee and breakfast while my daughter gets ready for school

8:00 a.m. Check emails and news from home, set daily to do list, review calendar

8:30 a.m. Listen to a favorite Podcast or do a little light reading as I transition my mind to work mode.

9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Working

11:45 - 1:00 p.m. Take a mid day fitness break, quick shower and grab a smoothie

1:00 p.m. - 4 p.m. Working

4:00 p.m. Pick up daughter from school. Set her up to do her homework with a snack. Then we will set up what activity she will do while I continue working.

4:30 - 6 p.m. Working

6 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Family Time - dinner, reading, bedtime routine with the little one

8:00 - 9:00 p.m. Check emails, wrap up any loose ends for work. Review tomorrow’s calendar

9:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Time with my husband

10:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. Reading before bed, followed by evening meditation

Throughout the day there is time dedicated to work, my personal health, and my family but there is not a clear break from one activity to the next. I just have to sway from one area to the next making sure that when I’m in each area, that is what gets my full attention. Everyone’s schedule will look different and each day can look different, but the key is to be fully present in your moment. Now it is your turn… How do you Sway?
